Our Wood Mill Operator 3 works under supervision of foreman encompassing the skills of Decksaw/Debarker, Turning Operator, Forklift, Ripsaw/Offbear, Dowler, and Yardman/Loader.
Our wood mill is located in McClure PA.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- Receive and unload truck deliveries
- Measure, mark, and stage log loads
- Maintain purchasing and receiving records
- Organize and control inventory
- Build lasting, trust-based relationships with loggers and logging companies
- Communicate complex information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
- Adapt tone, style, and messaging to each vendor’s preferences across phone, email, and in-person interactions
- Inspects trucks for defects before and after trips and submits report indicating truck conditions in accordance with DOT regulations
- Maintains driver logs according to DOT regulations
- Delivers or picks up loads in accordance with schedule. Ensures all loads are secured and within limits
- Keeps activity log of all routes driven along with the appropriate bills of lading
- Keeps mileage record of vehicles and all other required documentation
- Drives safely in accordance with DOT regulations and has a working knowledge of DOT regulations
- May be required to perform Jockey moves to assist all facilities
- May be required to perform Sawmill duties and basic operation duties if needed and certified
- Follows all policies and procedures, best practices, DOT and OSHA regulations
Requirements
~2 min readHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be able to complete simple math, to include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Must be able to read and comprehend simple instructions and write simple correspondence.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
Industrial lift truck certification.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
