The Boring Company was founded to solve the problem of soul-destroying traffic by creating an underground network of tunnels. Today, we are creating the technology to increase tunneling speed and decrease costs by a factor of 10 or more with the ultimate goal of making Hyperloop adoption viable and enabling rapid transit across densely populated regions.

In this role, you will support the fabrication, assembly, repair, and modification of tunnel boring machines and large-scale structures. Day-to-day work includes reading drawings and weld symbols, setting up welding equipment, completing welds in various positions, operating general shop equipment, and checking completed work against specifications. This role is best suited for someone who is comfortable in a fast-paced production environment, takes pride in high-quality welds, and can work safely and efficiently on a night shift schedule.

Responsibilities

→Welding assembly and fabrication on large-scale structures and assemblies
→Effective communication with management/supervisors and engineering staff
→Modification, repair, assembly, and installation of the tunnel boring machine
→Checking work after completion of each operation to ensure it meets drawing specifications
→Driving general shop equipment (forklifts, boom lifts, scissor lifts, etc.)
→Setting up welding equipment

Requirements

High school diploma or GED
Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and specifications (weld symbols)
Experience with overhead cranes and forklifts
Ability to weld in all positions and pass weld test (FCAW)

Proficiency with various power tools such as drills, saws, and pneumatic die grinders
Basic rigging skills
OSHA certification
Welding certifications
Experience with GMAW, GTAW, Stainless Steel, Hardfacing
Familiarity with various metal types and thicknesses
Ability to work in confined spaces and/or elevated heights

Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. unassisted
Ability to stoop, bend, crawl, and maneuver in tight spaces.
Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
Ability to work outdoors in heavy construction areas.
