Role Purpose: 

Structural designers will be responsible with engineering production packages and site activities which will be done, in a productivity, quality and efficient manner as imposed by his direct supervision/management.

Designation: Structural Designer – Engineering - Global Service Centre

Base Location: Chennai

Reporting to: GSC Structural Lead.

Key Role Responsibilities:

• Capability of studying technical drawings & documents and to assess the material requirements.
• Review and extract materials in the form of MTO on specific projects.
• Capable of doing drafting and assisting engineers in creating block divisions and building strategy drawings
• Capable to do drafting for D.A.P. (Detail assembly process) drawings as per build strategy drawing.
• Capable to do drafting for Assembly drawings following engineering drafting standards.
• Capable of doing plates nesting drawings and optimizing material wastage.
• Capable to do profile nesting drawings using engineering software and generate NC for feeding HGG robots.
• Capable to do forming drawings for profiles and plates. 
• Capable to understand welding symbols and details in order to create welding traceability by mapping drawings and welding lists.
• Capable of doing self-checking and to give his output free of mistakes.
• Ability to generate complete discipline drawings with Engineer's supervision
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks within assigned project and to meet required deadlines.

Skills & Competencies:             

• 5 years’ relevant experience in using software like Tekla Structure inside of production engineering office for steel welded manufactured company.
• Proficient in using AutoCAD software 2D as well for 3D.
• Proficient in 3D modeling software using Tekla structure 2023 version
• Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
• Follow and comply to information Security Rules and data security measures in order to protect the company information / intellectual properties.
• Attend, when requested, vessel inspections together with his direct supervisor in order to define the scope of work required for vessel modifications, repairs and conversions or to gather site information prior modifications. 
• Identification of changes of client design drawings, and report to his direct supervisor. 
• Executing duties of senior draughtsman if requested by his superior.
• Knowledge of basic arithmetic, algebra, geometry and trigonometry
• Thorough knowledge in both two dimensional and three-dimensional techniques
• Conceptualization skills to visualize finished drawings and assigned projects

• Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and successfully execute tasks in accordance with departmental / project objectives

Education & Qualifications: 

• Draughtsman Diploma from recognized institute. Bachelor/Engineering degree in Mechanical/Structural Engineering or equivalent will be preferable.
