Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Design, develop, and qualify packaging for new and existing products, ensuring manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
- →Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, manufacturing, and supply chain to define packaging requirements and specifications.
- →Conduct packaging material selection, testing, and validation to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and performance requirements.
- →Optimize current packaging solutions for improved efficiency, reduced waste, and enhanced product protection.
- →Develop and maintain packaging documentation, including specifications, test methods, and assembly instructions.
- →Investigate and resolve packaging-related issues, implementing corrective actions and preventive measures.
- →Evaluate and implement new packaging technologies and materials to drive innovation and sustainability initiatives.
Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in packaging development, engineering, or a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for package design and analysis.
- Demonstrated knowledge of various packaging materials, their properties, and manufacturing processes (e.g., plastics, paperboard, glass, metals).
- Experience with packaging test methods and industry standards (e.g., ISTA, ASTM).
- Strong understanding of supply chain logistics and how packaging impacts shipping, storage, and handling.
- Experience with SolidWorks or other 3D CAD software
- Familiarity with Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing principles
- Knowledge of sustainable packaging materials and practices
- Project management experience, overseeing projects from concept to completion
- Ability to perform finite element analysis (FEA) on packaging designs
