Tool Maker - Byron Center Area

We are partnering with organizations in Byron Center that are seeking Tool Makers. • →Set up and operate a variety of machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses.
• →Interpret blueprints, sketches, and 3D models to determine dimensions, tolerances, and tooling requirements.
• →Fabricate, repair, and modify precision tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges.
• →Perform close tolerance machining operations, often to within thousands of an inch.
• →Select appropriate materials and heat treat tools to achieve desired hardness and durability.
• →Inspect finished tools for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
• →Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to tool performance and manufacturing processes.
• →Maintain and calibrate tools and equipment to ensure optimal functionality and accuracy.

• High school diploma or GED
• Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program or 5+ years of relevant experience
• Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
• Strong knowledge of machining processes, tooling, and materials
• Ability to use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges)
• Experience with CAD/CAM software for tool design and programming

• Additional certifications or training
