Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Fabricate, alter, and repair a wide range of tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
- →Interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings.
- →Operate precision machinery such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and EDM equipment.
- →Perform close tolerance machining operations to achieve specified dimensions and finishes.
- →Conduct inspections of completed tools and components using various measuring instruments.
- →Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to tool performance and functionality.
- →Collaborate with engineers and production staff to optimize tool designs and manufacturing processes.
Requirements
~1 min read- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of a Tool and Die Maker apprenticeship program or equivalent experience
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
- Expertise in operating manual and CNC machining equipment (e.g., lathes, mills, grinders, EDMs)
- Strong understanding of GD&T principles and their application
- Ability to use a wide range of precision measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, height gauges)
- Experience with CAD/CAM software for tool design and programming.
- Familiarity with EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) or Wire EDM processes.
- Certification in a relevant field such as machining technology or tool and die making.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor apprentices or junior tool makers.
- Experience in a lean manufacturing environment with a focus on continuous improvement.
