Tool Maker - Traverse City Area

We partner with manufacturers across Traverse City seeking Tool Makers who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.

• →Fabricate, repair, and modify tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
• →Interpret blueprints, sketches, and 3D models to determine dimensions and tolerances.
• →Set up and operate a variety of machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDMs.
• →Perform precision measurements using gauges, calipers, micrometers, and CMMs.
• →Troubleshoot and resolve complex tooling issues to optimize production.
• →Select appropriate materials and heat treatments for tooling applications.
• →Maintain and calibrate shop equipment to ensure accuracy and safety.

• High school diploma or GED
• Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program or equivalent on-the-job training
• 5+ years of experience as a Tool Maker in a manufacturing environment
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
• Strong understanding of GD&T principles
• Experience with various machining processes, including milling, turning, grinding, and EDM

• Additional certifications or training
