Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Designs and develops tooling, fixtures, and jigs for manufacturing processes.
- →Collaborates with design and production teams to optimize tooling for manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
- →Conducts root cause analysis and implements corrective actions for tooling-related issues.
- →Manages tooling procurement, maintenance, and inventory.
- →Implements and maintains tooling documentation, including drawings, specifications, and maintenance procedures.
- →Utilizes CAD/CAM software for tooling design and simulation.
- →Supports new product introduction by ensuring tooling readiness and capability.
- →Drives continuous improvement initiatives for tooling performance and efficiency.
Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in tooling design, development, and manufacturing within a high-volume production environment.
- Proficient in CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA) for designing and analyzing tooling.
- Strong understanding of various manufacturing processes, including stamping, injection molding, casting, and machining.
- Experience with tool and die making, including material selection, heat treatment, and surface finishing processes.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and optimize tooling for improved performance, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software for mold design and manufacturing (e.g., SolidWorks, Catia, Mastercam).
- Familiarity with various manufacturing processes beyond injection molding, such as stamping, casting, or machining.
- Knowledge of metrology and inspection techniques for tooling verification (e.g., CMM, optical comparators).
- Certification in a relevant area, such as a Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or a Certified Manufacturing Engineer (CMfgE).
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles or Six Sigma methodologies applied to tooling development.
