A busy family in Northwest Washington, DC is seeking a proactive Family Assistant to support their household and three children (ages 8–11). Approximately 70% of the role will focus on personal assistant, administrative, and household support, with the remaining 30% involving childcare logistics. The ideal candidate is highly organized, computer and digitally literate, and able to manage a fast-moving schedule with multiple priorities. The family is looking for a self-starter who notices what needs to be done and takes initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with family scheduling, emails, appointments, and day-to-day administrative tasks.
  • Maintain organized digital files, calendars, records, and household information.
  • Coordinate household vendors, services, repairs, and appointments.
  • Handle grocery shopping, household errands, and light household organization.
  • Help manage school communications, projects, appointments, and other family logistics.
  • Occasionally drive the children safely to and from school, sports, activities, appointments, and other commitments.
  • Help coordinate and manage the children’s schedules.
  • Anticipate the family’s needs and help keep daily life running smoothly.
  • Adapt quickly when schedules or priorities change.

Qualifications

  • Prior personal assistant, family assistant, or administrative support experience preferred.
  • Strong computer and digital literacy.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Highly proactive and resourceful, with the ability to take initiative with minimal direction.
  • Excellent communication skills and professional judgment.
  • Experience working with children and comfort supporting both adults and children.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Reliable, trustworthy, discreet, and professional.
  • Calm and positive attitude, even in a busy environment.
  • Ability to manage shifting priorities and multiple schedules simultaneously.
  • Flexibility to work weekends.

Schedule: Sunday-Thursday, approximately 2:00 PM–7:00/8:00 PM. 

Flexibility may be required based on the family’s schedule.
