Substitute Teacher (Thrive School)

Thrive Charter School is a kindergarten through grade 6 school located at 10735 McQueen Road that opened in September 2023. Thrive School is creating something special; a no fees to parents K-6 Public Charter School. A place where our students’ brilliant futures come into clear focus, and anything is possible.

Thrive is a K-6 public charter school designed to support families’ needs and dreams in mind. The school offers an accessible and challenging program. Students will have the opportunity to learn and grow in a nurturing small school environment. At Thrive, we have high expectations for both academic achievement and student well-being. In order to teach in Alberta, teachers must be certified through Alberta Education.

We are also looking for substitute teachers wanting to be added to our replacement teacher roster.

Under the guidance of the Principal and in compliance with the Education Act and Thrive Elementary School approved charter:

• →Establishes clear objectives and outlines for courses of study, following curriculum guidelines or requirements of Alberta Education, and communicates these objectives to students via the teachers’ lesson plans
• →Instructs using a variety of instructional approaches appropriate for grade level, student needs and program focus for teaching students with distinctive experiences and motivations, including multimodal teaching strategies.
• →Provides learning opportunities so students are able to see themselves as the innovators, scientists, inventors, engineers and technology experts of tomorrow.
• →Observes students' performance, behaviour, social development, and physical health.
• →Establishes and models expectations for behaviour and procedures for maintaining order and safety among the students for whom we are responsible, under the guidance of the Principal. Enforces all administrative policies governing students.
• →Adapts teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
• →Supervises engaging class projects, field trips, visits by guest speakers or other experiential activities, as appropriate, and guides students in learning from such activities.
• →Effectively uses technology to support the learning process.
• →Supervises recreational and other activities as appropriate, to promote physical, mental, and social development.
• →Performs supervisory duties, as assigned, such as hall, recess and playground monitoring, and bus loading and unloading when applicable.
• →Works collaboratively with any support staff or multidisciplinary team members that may be in your classroom
• →Performs other related tasks as appropriate, including organizing materials, displaying students' work, as assigned

Education and Experience

• Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
• Bachelor of Education Degree or equivalent recognized by Alberta Education
