Position Summary:
Under general supervision, Customer Service Records Technician serves as the Police Department’s primary front desk representative while performing police records functions. Responsibilities include providing customer service to the public, receiving and documenting reports, processing records and information requests, and maintaining accurate law enforcement records in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and department policies. Strong attention to detail, discretion, and the ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism are essential for this role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serves as the primary front desk point of contact for the Police Department
- Maintains strict confidentiality of criminal justice information and complies with CJIS/CCIC requirements
- Receives and assesses telephone and in-person inquiries, determines appropriate response, and routes requests as needed
- Receives reports of crimes and incidents, including accidents, lost or found property, thefts, and criminal mischief, and documents information in official police reports
- Enters, updates, and maintains records in the Records Management System (RMS) and related databases
- Receives, processes, and responds to requests for information from internal departments, external agencies, and the public
- Performs VIN verifications and fingerprinting services as assigned
- Collects applicable fees, processes payments, and maintains accurate financial records
- Performs general administrative and clerical tasks in support of department operations
- Maintains the medication collection box
- Serves as notary public; notarizes legal documents such as case filing affidavits, warrants and other materials as required
- Maintain confidentiality and security of law enforcement records, protecting sensitive information in accordance with legal and departmental guidelines.
- Assist with audits of records for accuracy and compliance with state and federal regulations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge
- Knowledge of relevant town, state, and federal laws, regulations, and

Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required supplemented by one (1) year of related experience.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Valid Driver’s License issued by the State of Colorado; safe driving record and a minimum of two (2) years of driving history.
- Possession of or ability to obtain the certification of Notary Public upon hire.
- Must obtain and maintain Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) compliance within six months of employment.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
- Must pass a conditional post-offer background investigation, motor vehicle record check, and drug screen.
Physical Demands:
- Requires use of general office equipment such as computers, printers, telephones, and related software.
- Use of specialized tools or equipment may also be necessary, including but not limited to technical devices, mechanical tools, heavy equipment, machinery, public-safety-related items, or other industry-specific systems.
