A growing family law firm in Knoxville, TN, is seeking an experienced Family Law Paralegal to support attorneys on divorce, custody, adoption, and dependency and neglect matters. The role pays $55,000-$65,000 plus bonus opportunities, runs on a 37.5-hour Monday-Friday schedule, and includes the full week between Christmas and New Year's off with pay. Responsibilities

  • →Draft, review, and finalize family law pleadings and documents, including divorce filings, custody and parenting plan agreements, financial disclosures, and discovery
  • →Prepare dependency and neglect, emergency custody, adoption, and termination of parental rights filings
  • →Manage case files from intake through resolution, keeping every deadline and filing on track
  • →Prepare and file documents with the court in strict compliance with procedural rules and timelines
  • →Coordinate discovery, including drafting requests, organizing evidence, and preparing witness statements
  • →Conduct legal research and prepare clear summaries to support attorney strategy
  • →Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, gathering information and providing updates with professionalism and compassion
  • →Support trial preparation by organizing exhibits, building trial binders, and assisting attorneys with logistics
  • →Track and record billable time accurately and consistently
  • →Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality, ethics, and discretion

  • 3-5+ years of experience as a family law paralegal, including complex cases
  • Hands-on experience with divorce and custody matters, plus dependency and neglect, adoption, or termination of parental rights cases
  • Advanced knowledge of family law terminology, court procedures, and filing requirements
  • The emotional resilience to work professionally with sensitive case materials, including evidence in child abuse and domestic violence matters
  • Exceptional drafting, organization, and deadline management skills
  • Strong client communication skills with a compassionate, professional approach
  • A dependable, self-motivated work ethic and a willingness to go the extra mile
  • Bachelor's degree, paralegal certificate, or equivalent work experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work full-time in the office in Knoxville, TN

  • Tennessee family law experience, including Permanent Parenting Plans and Marital Dissolution Agreements
  • Experience with Department of Children's Services (DCS) or juvenile court matters
  • Familiarity with Knox County family and juvenile courts
  • Experience with Clio Manage
  • Trial support experience

  • Salary of $55,000-$65,000, depending on experience
  • Quarterly and/or annual bonus opportunities
