About the Role
~1 min readWe are looking for an engineering leader to lead our Payments team, the financial backbone powering every transaction on Twitch. You will own the products, experiences, and platforms that enable 7+ million creators to monetize their passion while architecting Twitch's next generation of payment systems.
This is a high-impact role at the intersection of technology and creator economy. You will create user-friendly purchase experiences for viewers and creators while developing innovative payment solutions that power Twitch's global ecosystem. You will tackle complex technical challenges including orchestrating payments for millions of global users, integrating with multiple third-party payment vendors, ensuring system resilience at massive scale, and maintaining sub-second response times worldwide. Your decisions directly influence Twitch's revenue and user satisfaction.

This gives you visibility across the organization and the opportunity to shape monetization strategy alongside product, data science, fraud prevention, compliance, finance, and creator experience teams. You will drive meaningful impact to Twitch's business and revenue growth while learning and growing in the exciting world of digital payments.

- Lead a team of engineers to design, build, and operate full-stack web applications that process millions of transactions daily
- Establish a clear vision for your team and generate urgency to deliver exceptional experiences for our creators and viewers
- Keep your people development radar always on; articulate behaviors and impacts that accelerate careers and build world-class engineering talent
- Quickly dissect the nuances of complex trade-offs, making conscious architectural and product choices while overcoming technical and organizational challenges
- Constructively parse, ingest, challenge, and reframe proposals and plans to drive better outcomes
- Adjust gracefully to changing priorities while maintaining team energy, focus, and delivery momentum
- 3+ years of experience as an engineering manager
- 5+ years of experience in software development
- Experience with web services, cloud infrastructure, and system design at scale
- Proven ability to attract, hire, and retain top engineering talent
- Willingness to accept feedback from teammates and foster a culture of continuous improvement
- Track record of leading teams to design, implement, and operate consumer-facing applications with high reliability requirements
- Experience using Agile development methodologies to deliver iteratively and respond to changing needs
Nice to Have
