U.S. Pipe and Foundry is seeking a Production Supervisor in Lynchburg, VA.  The successful candidate will play a key role in supervising operations while maintaining established quality standards, minimizing operational costs, and driving production performance targets with an emphasis on safe work habits. 

Key Responsibilities as a Production Supervisor will include:
  • Leadership: Under the direction of the Production Manager, lead and direct the work of hourly production employees to achieve daily production targets while maintaining a high level of safety and quality.  
  • Production Oversight: Manage daily operations, monitor workflows, problem-solve, and implement process improvements to meet production standards and targets.
  • Mechanical Operations: Provide support and hands on maintenance of mechanical equipment/tooling in partnership with maintenance supervisors to optimize equipment and processes. Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues and assist with repairs to ensure smooth production.
  • Safety and Compliance: Champion safety programs, conduct safety audits and reinforce a culture of workplace safety and accountability ensuring compliance with all safety regulations
  • Collaboration: Work closely with operations/plant leadership to meet key performance indicators (KPIs), continuous improvement initiatives, safety, and quality standards.  

 

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent. Trade or technical certification preferred.
  • One to three years heavy industrial manufacturing experience. 
  • Experience in ductile iron products and foundry experience preferred. 
  • Good verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Excellent planning and organizing skills required.
  • Basic Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word) 
  • Ability to lead and direct workforce, to achieve a technically competent and highly motivated workforce, ensuring all necessary training and development to promote skill development, quality, safety, and compliance are met. Experience with Union environments a plus.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Must be able to climb steps and ladders
  • Must be able to bend and stoop repeatedly
  • Must be able to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull objects and materials weighing 50 pounds and occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull objects and materials weighing more than 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to manually roll pipe on rails.
  • Responsible for completing clean-up tasks involving picking up, sweeping, and shoveling.
  • Must be able to help remove scrap, slag, sand and all other debris in area.
  • Responsible for positioning equipment back in proper place.
  • Must be able to recognize defective equipment and appropriately report defects to Supervision.
  • Must be able to work in both hot and cold environments.
  • Must be able to practice safe work procedures and comply with applicable safety rules and regulations in a heavy industrial environment.
