Certified Pharmacy Tech (Cooper Green)

GENERAL SUMMARY

The pharmacy technician supports pharmacy operations by accurately processing prescriptions, assisting patients, and maintaining compliance with pharmacy regulations and company policies. Performs prescription data entry, insurance claim adjudication, and resolution of billing and coverage issues to facilitate timely medication access. Provides excellent customer service while coordinating with pharmacists, prescribers, and insurance providers to ensure safe and efficient pharmacy services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1.      Assists Pharmacists with dispensing activities; assist with inventory control; assist with maintaining adequate drug supplies necessary to support daily operations.

2.      Maintains the daily operations within the retail pharmacy, including answering phones; assisting individuals at the pharmacy window/counter; entering charges for medication, receiving and stocking drug orders; and maintaining cleanliness of assigned area.

3.      Manages prescription data entry, including patient demographics, submitting and adjudicating third-party insurance claims, and resolving claim rejections, coverage issues, and other insurance-related discrepancies.

4.      Operates point-of-sale system by processing patient payments, balancing cash drawers, and maintains accurate financial transactions.

5.      Assists with quality improvement initiatives, workflow optimization, accreditation activities, and departmental performance goals.

6.      Assists with medications being delivered and distributed to appropriate patient care areas or Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADC).

7.      Performs other duties as assigned by pharmacy leadership.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

Education:

High School Diploma or GED.

Certifications:

1.      Currently registered as a pharmacy technician by the Alabama Board of Pharmacy (ALBOP); active registration will be required prior to the date of hire.

2.      Currently certified as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT or ExCPT) by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcareer Association (NHA). 

3.      Current CPR/BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Preferred:

1.      Experience with PrimeRX, NetGen, and EPIC pharmacy management systems.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role may require lifting up to 50 lbs.

The work location for this role is onsite

$15.00-23.55/hour
