The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of
Arkansas at Pine Bluff is seeking qualified candidates to apply for a full-time tenure track
(FTTT) Assistant Professor of Mathematics & Statistics. Candidates must be able to teach both
lower and upper-level undergraduate courses in mathematics, statistics and/or data science,
provide academic advising to students, develop, and design curriculum plans to foster
student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensure student engagement. Candidates
will be expected to cooperatively and individually initiate research in the field of interest and
participate in student co-curricular discipline-related activities which may include research,
teaching, and designing new cutting-edge courses, community-based projects, or other
extracurricular activities. The successful candidate will be expected to perform the usual
curricular and professional duties associated with an academic appointment at the rank of
Assistant Professor. For the purposes of reappointment, tenure, and promotion, emphasis
will be placed on teaching effectiveness, scholarly, and creative achievements, and service to
the University and community including activities in support of student retention. This is a
nine 9-month tenured track position, reporting to the Department Chair.
Teach a range of graduate and undergraduate courses in
Mathematics, Statistics, and Data Science, including but not limited to calculus, linear algebra,
probability, statistical modeling, machine learning, and data analysis. Provide mentorship
and academic advising to graduate and undergraduate students, offering guidance on
academic programs, research opportunities, and career paths in Mathematics, Statistics, and
Data Science. Pursue scholarly activities such as publishing research, participate in
professional conferences by maintaining memberships. Maintain a research agenda for
individual research & support departmental grants efforts. Advise math majors, promote
student retention, foster department & university strategic plans.
