KEY RESPONSIILITIES: Product Strategy, Development & Management · Lead development and management of: Retail Assets (Loans, Mortgages, Overdrafts, Govt Schemes) Liabilities Products (CASA, Savings, Term Deposits) Digital Products (Mobile, Internet Banking, Agency Banking, WhatsApp banking) Cards (Debit, Credit, Prepaid) Bancassurance products Custodial and Investment Services · Define and execute product strategy aligned to business goals · Oversee full product lifecycle (design, launch, enhancement, retirement) · Ensure compliance with regulatory and governance frameworks · Develop business cases and financial models for all product initiatives Monitor market trends, fin-tech innovations, and competitor offerings 2. Business & Financial Performance Management · Drive growth across: o Loan book and deposit base o Digital adoption and transaction volumes o Card issuance and usage o Fee income from investments, custodial, and bancassurance · Manage product pricing, margins, and profitability · Optimize balance sheet performance and cost of funds · Provide insights to ALCO on pricing, liquidity, and portfolio mix Ensure P&L for all Products across are profitable 3. Sales Enablement & Stakeholder Management · Partner with Retail, Corporate, and Branch Network to drive product uptake · Support sales strategies, campaigns, and cross-selling initiatives · Build strong partnerships with: o Insurance companies (bancassurance) o Asset managers and custodians o Fintechs and payment networks Drive product training and capability building across teams 4. Customer Experience & Product Optimization · Champion customer-centric product design and delivery · Ensure ontime product and project delivery · Leverage customer insights, NPS, and analytics to improve offerings · Drive innovation in digital banking, cards, and investment products Ensure seamless and intuitive customer journeys across channels 5. Digital, Cards & Channel Integration · Lead digital transformation of product offerings · Optimize delivery through mobile, internet, USSD, and agency channels · Oversee cards ecosystem (issuance, usage, partnerships, schemes) · Work with ICT to ensure system stability, scalability, and innovation Identify automation opportunities to improve efficiency 6. Risk & Compliance Management · Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, BOT, KYC/AML standards, and internal policies · Act as first line of defense for product-related risks · Monitor product performance for operational, credit, and fraud and reputational risks Address audit findings and implement corrective actions 7. Reporting & MIS · Prepare and analyze comprehensive product performance reports · Track KPIs including growth, profitability, usage, and customer metrics · Provide actionable insights and recommendations to senior management Support reporting for committees (ALCO, Product Committees, Board, etc.) 8. People Management · Build and lead a high-performing, cross-functional product team · Coach, mentor, and develop team members · Set clear objectives and conduct performance reviews Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and innovation Requirements REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related field Master’s degree (MBA) or relevant professional certification is an added advantage Minimum 8–10 years’ banking experience, with at least 5 years in Product Leadership Experience in Digital Banking, Cards, Investments, or Bancassurance is highly desirable SKILLS: · Strong knowledge of Retail and Digital Banking, Cards, Investments, and Bancassurance · Deep understanding of Tanzanian banking industry and regulatory environment · Proven experience in product strategy, lifecycle management, and innovation · Strong analytical, financial modeling skills and commercial acumen · Knowledge of digital ecosystems, fin-tech partnerships, and payment systems · Customer-centric mindset with strong UX appreciation · Business planning and project management skills · Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills Strong leadership and team development capabilities
