Join UGL’s Utilities Operations & Maintenance business, supporting field teams delivering essential electricity services for clients including AusNet Services and Powercor.

From planned maintenance and network upgrades to responding to outages and urgent repairs, our crews work across overhead powerlines, underground services and substations to help keep communities across Victoria connected and powered. You’ll work alongside these teams in a hands-on safety role where you can broaden your experience and make a visible impact.

About the role

This is a senior, autonomous safety role supporting the AusNet Services and Powercor operations across Victoria. Based at Tullamarine, you’ll work across Melbourne, Mooroolbark, Geelong, Shepparton and other locations throughout the state.

You’ll spend much of your time in the field, working with crews and operational leaders to build relationships, support critical controls and strengthen safe behaviours.

Key responsibilities

• Support inductions, toolbox meetings, inspections, audits and critical control conversations.
• Provide practical safety advice and coaching to crews and field supervisors.
• Support incident investigations and help ensure actions and learnings are followed through.
• Assist with minor training, HSE data management, reporting and written documentation.
• Help strengthen critical controls and safety improvement activities while supporting bids and broader business requirements as needed.

About you

• Experience in a similar safety role, ideally in a high-risk industry. This could include construction, rail, transport, manufacturing, mining, resources or another operational environment.
• Sound knowledge of core safety practices, ideally gained supporting field-based workers and operational teams.
• A practical approach, with the confidence to coach, educate and positively influence safe behaviour.
• Comfortable working autonomously, travelling across Victoria when required and attending early starts.
• Curious and improvement focused, with fresh ideas and a willingness to contribute as part of a close-knit team.
