The University Miami, in Miami, Florida is seeking an Audiologist 1 for the Department of Otolaryngology. Duties and responsibilities include administering a range of auditory tests (air/bone conduction, speech reception, immittance, emissions, and auditory evoked potentials), fitting and dispensing hearing aids, and providing patient counseling. The role also involves maintaining detailed clinical records, consulting with physicians and other professionals, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. The position may work with pediatric patients, travel to satellite clinics, and must be flexible in covering multiple audiology specialties. Participation in professional development activities is expected. Travel as needed to satellite clinics within the Miami-Dade County is required. 

 

Position requires a PhD in Audiology or Doctor of Audiology + 1 year of relevant experience.  A valid Florida Audiologist license is also required. 

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Performs immittance and emissions testing. 2%

2. Conducts auditory evoked potential assessments for patients. 2%

3. Assesses hearing sensitivity and quality and provides patients with information regarding the results. 2%

4. Dispenses hearing aids and fits devices based on patient’s physiology and needs. 5%

5. Consults with physicians and other professionals about patient’s future needs and current progress. 2%

6. Maintains client records at all stages including initial evaluation and discharge. 5%

7. Documents all professional and clinical reports and conducts research on auditory topics. 1%

8. Utilizes local, state, and national regulations to make decisions regarding service eligibility. 2%

9. Participates in conferences, forums, and training sessions to remain up-to-date with or share knowledge of new hearing or speech disorder treatment methods. 1%

10. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. 5%

CORE QUALIFICATIONS


  • Doctorate of Audiology degree required.
  • Current valid Florida Audiologist license required.
  • Three years of audiologist-related experience is preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
