Responsibilities
~1 min readProvides clinical and administrative support to the Pediatric Neurology Division by managing provider in- baskets, coordinating the Fast Track Clinic, processing medical records, obtaining prior authorizations for medications, imaging, EEGs, and Video EEGs, maintaining EMR documentation, and serving as a preceptor to junior Medical Assistants.
- →Manage assigned EPIC In-Basket messages, including:
- →Test results
- →Patient calls
- →Staff messages
- →Patient advice requests
- →Prescription refill requests
- →Scheduling-related messages
- →Process medical records requests and complete patient forms.
- →Perform additional administrative and clinical support duties, including:
- →Coordinate with providers and insurance carriers to secure required approvals before scheduled procedures.
- →Receive, process, distribute, and maintain incoming and outgoing faxes.
- →Scan and upload patient documentation into the electronic medical record (EMR).

Requirements

- Approved MA Certifications:
- CMA- Certified Medical Assistant - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)®
- RMA- Registered Medical Assistant - American Medical Technologists (AMT)
- CCMA- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant- National Healthcare Association (NHA)
- NCMA - National Certified Medical Assistant (NHA - NCCT)
- NRCMA - Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NAHP)
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers
- HIV & AIDS Certification: Florida HIV/AIDS Healthcare Professional Continue Education (CE) Certification
- Minimum of 2 years previous experience
- Strong, effective communication skills with patients, families, and clinical team
- Ability to adapt and exhibit flexibility to handle new, different, or changing environments
- Demonstrates strong time management skills to prioritize and act proactively
- Ability to uphold professional ethics and maintain patient confidentiality
