We are Una Health, a mission-driven company tackling the ever-increasing burden of metabolic disease.
We combine the latest medical research, data science, biosensor technology, and human-centered design to enable sustainable behaviour change and better health outcomes.
We are backed by leading investors such as Atlantic Food Labs, PeakBridge, Plug and Play, and DART Labs, and angels such as the founders of mySugr/9amHealth and Ada Health.
Now is a great moment to join us: our fully reimbursed therapy is available to people with type 2 diabetes across Germany, and we've built real momentum. Reaching the next level of scale means growing the team — and this role is one of the people we need to get there. Our mission is to reach millions and help our members take ownership of their health and live better lives, using AI to improve the patient and doctor experience and raise the quality of care.
We're looking for a Product Design Lead to shape the next generation of digital metabolic care — turning complex medical, behavioural, regulatory, and AI challenges into simple, trustworthy product experiences.
This is a role for someone who starts with the problem, not the pixel. You'll work closely with our CEO, Head of Product, engineering, data science, clinical, operational, and commercial teams to move from unclear problem spaces to sharp hypotheses, prototypes, user evidence, and buildable decisions. We care deeply about craft — but we're a startup: ownership, speed, and learning win. You know when to go deep, when to ship a pragmatic V1, and how to help a cross-functional team decide quickly.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Own product design end to end — partnering with product at problem discovery, then owning it through research, hypotheses, UX, high-fidelity UI, handover, and iteration.
- →Start with "why": when product brings a problem, understand it, challenge it, frame testable hypotheses, and agree how we'll measure success before we build.
- →Lead focused discovery with patients and healthcare professionals — turning insight into clear product direction.
- →Design simple, buildable experiences that make clinical, behavioural, data, AI, and regulatory complexity understandable and usable.
- →Maintain and improve the design system to speed up delivery.
- →Use AI thoughtfully in the product experience — designing for trust, safety, and clinical relevance.
Requirements
~1 min read- 5+ years of hands-on product design experience, ideally in a fast-moving startup, scaleup, or similarly ambiguous environment.
- A portfolio that shows your thinking, not just your screens — how you moved from an unclear problem to hypotheses, decisions, and shipped product.
- Strong product and UX judgement — you ask the right questions, test assumptions quickly, and turn insight into direction. This is the heart of the role: we'd take a sharp problem-solver over a pure visual perfectionist.
- Solid UI craft — clean, consistent, buildable designs.
- A bias for speed, ownership, and learning.
- Professional-level German and English — including running research and reviewing user-facing copy in German.
- Curiosity for AI-powered product experiences and how to design them responsibly.
Nice to Have
~1 min read- Experience in German healthcare, DiGA, medical devices, digital therapeutics, or other regulated health products.
- Experience with behaviour change, chronic disease management, or designing for healthcare professionals.
Research shows that there is a Confidence Gap between different groups (e.g., gender, age, ethnicity) leading some to apply when they meet 60% of the criteria, and others only when they check every box. So if you think you have what it takes, but don't necessarily meet every single point on the job description, please still get in touch. We'd love to have a chat and see if you could be a great fit.
