The Technician is responsible for carrying out inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of vehicles in accordance with manufacturer standards and workshop procedures. The Technician ensures that vehicles are serviced efficiently, safely, and to the satisfaction of customers.
Responsibilities
~1 min read• Perform routine servicing, mechanical repairs, and diagnostics on various vehicle systems (engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, etc.).
• Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify faults and carry out necessary repairs.
• Conduct scheduled maintenance checks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and tire rotations.
• Inspect vehicle systems and components to ensure reliability and performance.
• Review job cards and follow service instructions provided by the service advisor or workshop supervisor.
• Complete assigned tasks within time and quality guidelines.
• Use hand tools, power tools, lifts, and diagnostic machines safely and correctly.
• Maintain tools and ensure they are clean and functional.
• Adhere to workshop safety standards and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Ensure work practices comply with manufacturer and local regulations.
• Record parts used, work performed, and time spent on job cards or digital systems.
• Report additional faults or recommended services to supervisors.
• Work closely with other technicians, service advisors, and parts personnel.
• Attend technical training and stay updated on vehicle technologies.
• Ensure high-quality work is delivered to prevent repeat repairs and enhance customer trust.
• Occasionally assist in explaining repairs or maintenance done, if required.
