About the Role
~1 min readWe are seeking a teaching-intensive Lecturer in Policing to join our growing academic team within a newly established School bringing together Emergency Care, Law Enforcement and Policing, and Emergency Management. This multi-campus school delivers programs across Tasmania and New South Wales, as well as online and in partnership with the Tasmania Police Academy.
In this role, you will contribute to high-quality teaching, curriculum development, and student engagement, while also undertaking scholarly and professional activities aligned with the discipline. Supported by senior academics, you will develop your teaching and research profile with increasing autonomy.
We welcome applicants with expertise in areas such as Law, Psychology, or Cyber Crime/Security, who are keen to contribute to an innovative and evolving environment with strong links to industry and the Tasmanian Institute of Law Enforcement Studies (TILES).
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Make an effective and sustained contribution to the University in achieving its strategic objectives and fulfilling its operational responsibilities.
- →Undertake scholarly undergraduate (and if relevant, postgraduate) coursework teaching of a high quality.
- →Contribute to curriculum design and revision within the discipline as part of the development of new offerings scheduled for 2027 onwards.
- →Contribute to the development and maintenance of productive and effective links inside the University and locally and nationally with the discipline, relevant interdisciplinary domains, profession, industry and/or wider community
- →Undertake high-quality research and help to secure external competitive and other funding and publish research findings.
- →Contribute to the successful supervision of research higher degree students as appropriate, in order to meet and regularly exceed the University’s research performance expectations
What we’re looking for:
- →A Master or PhD or equivalent qualification in a relevant field.
- →Experience in University-level teaching and learning activities, as well as curriculum design and review.
- →An emerging record of, and continuing commitment to research, demonstrated by a record of publications, presentations at conferences.
- →A record of contributing to the building and maintaining of effective and productive links locally and nationally with the discipline, profession, industry (where relevant) and wider community.
- Background in Law, psychology or Cyber Crime/Security

Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level B and will have a total remuneration package of up to $155,885 comprising base salary within the range of $114,766 to $133,235 plus 17% superannuation.
