Manager Operational Resilience

The Manager, Operational Resilience leads the University’s operational resilience, safety and security functions, strengthening the institution’s ability to prepare for, respond to and recover from disruptions. The role oversees business continuity, crisis and emergency management, safety and security operations, and associated risk and compliance activities.

Working across the University and with external stakeholders, the position drives organisational preparedness, manages complex incidents, and provides strategic advice to ensure resilience capability remains effective, contemporary and aligned with the University’s priorities.

Our ideal candidate will operate at an executive and operational level with experience in emergency management, business continuity, security, risk or organisational resilience within a large and complex organisation.

You will be a trusted and influential professional who remains calm under pressure, exercises sound judgement, manages sensitive matters with discretion, and leads initiatives that strengthen organisational resilience and preparedness.

• →Develop, Maintain and improve the University’s resilience, business continuity, recovery and preparedness framework.
• →Lead the University's response capability before, during and after significant incidents and disruptions.
• →Identify emerging threats and risks and providing advice to support informed decision-making.
• →Oversee safety and security functions and manage complex incidents involving the University community.
• →Ensure frameworks are compliant, understood and embedded across the University.

­What we’re looking for:

• → Degree qualification in emergency management, risk management, security management, organisational resilience, or a related field; or equivalent experience, accreditation, and/or demonstrated professional expertise.
• →Demonstrated success in leading teams and managing external providers within a large, complex organisation, with a strong understanding of contemporary risk and resilience practices and relevant legislation, regulations, codes, and standards.
• →A confident and effective communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare and present professional reports.
• →Demonstrated high-level analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex information, evaluate evidence, and provide independent, well-informed advice.
• →Highly organised and self-motivated, with a proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a small professional team, while managing multiple competing priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment.

Appointment to this role will be at HEO 10 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $163,282 comprising base salary within the range of $137,494 to $139,557 plus 17% superannuation.
