This isn’t just another role, it’s your opportunity to shape how people will live, feel, and experience their home every day.

At Simonds, our Interior Design Consultants are at the heart of the client journey, helping transform a house into something deeply personal. From colours and finishes to fixtures, textures and final touches, you’ll guide every decision that brings a home to life.

This is where vision becomes reality, where your expertise helps clients create spaces that reflect their lifestyle, personality, and the way they want to live.

And now, there’s an opportunity to be part of the experience.

We are seeking an Interior Design Consultant to join our passionate, high-performing team on a maximum-term contract of up to 12 months at our Bendigo Gallery.

You’ll guide clients through one of the most exciting stages of their home-building journey, helping bring their vision to life through confident, considered design decisions.

Working alongside passionate professionals, you’ll play a key role in delivering an exceptional design experience for our clients, helping them make confident decisions as they bring their new homes to life.

Most of your work will involve working with clients who are building new homes, guiding them through their selections of colours, finishes, fixtures and upgrades to create a home that reflects their personal style and lifestyle.

This role is ideal for a qualified designer who:

  • Thrives in a client-facing environment
  • Loves helping clients bring their vision to life through design
  • Enjoys working across a range of residential projects
  • Is comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Understands and enjoys working within the volume residential building environment.
  • Lead engaging, high-impact client consultations in a premium Gallery environment
  • Prepare thoroughly to deliver seamless, professional appointment experiences
  • Provide expert guidance on colour schemes, finishes, fixtures, and upgrades
  • Confidently support clients through their interior design selections
  • Accurately document selections, variations, and specifications within required timeframes
  • Collaborate closely with sales and internal teams to ensure a smooth client journey
  • Stay ahead of design trends, materials, and innovations to inspire and inform clients

You’re not just creative - you’re confident, commercially minded, and thrive in a fast-paced, client-facing environment. Most importantly, you bring a strong passion for interior design and client experience.

You’ll also bring:

  • A qualification in Interior Design, Decoration, or a related field
  • Proven experience in colour consulting, ideally within residential construction
  • A strong understanding of residential colour, finishes, fixtures, materials and upgrades
  • Strong ability to read and interpret floor plans with accuracy and confidence
  • Exceptional organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines
  • Outstanding communication skills and a natural ability to build trust and rapport
  • A proactive, team-focused mindset with a drive to achieve targets and deliver excellence

This is a role for someone who wants to stand out, take ownership, and be part of something genuinely exciting.

This is more than a design role,

it’s a chance to:

  • Use your design expertise to help clients make confident, considered selections for their new home
  • Partner closely with clients during one of the most exciting stages of their home-building journey
  • Work alongside a passionate design team, contributing to the Simonds design experience and helping shape an exceptional journey for our clients.
  • Help shape the next chapter of Simonds’ client design experience

The Simonds story all started in 1949 with a passionate family man, Gary Simonds. He envisioned a builder that Australians could rely on to guide them through the process of crafting their perfect home. This vision remains at the heart of Simonds today with our commitment to making the Great Australian Dream a reality by placing home ownership within Australia’s reach.

Becoming part of Team Simonds means becoming part of the family. Our people are the heart of what we do. Our homes are built for the community, by the community, with a local network of employees, trades and suppliers all working towards this vision. It is this passion, dedication, and excellence that you will find on every Simonds job site, office, and display centre across the country. Today, we stand proudly as an ASX listed & leading national builder servicing customers across Victoria, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia.

Simonds has helped shape Australia. Few can say that. Whether we’re looking back at the homes of yesteryear, what we’re building now, or everything that’s still to come. We’ve not only shaped what Australia looks like, but more importantly, how Australia homes.
