UofL Health – Jewish Hospital opened in 1905 with a mission to provide all patients with the highest quality care and a strong emphasis on research and education. Located in the heart of the downtown medical campus, Jewish Hospital is a 462-bed, internationally renowned, comprehensive, quaternary medical center that is developing leading-edge advancements in a vast number of specialties and services including heart care, neurosciences, orthopedics and surgical care.

UofL Health – Jewish Hospital is ranked as “High Performing” by U.S. News & World Report in four specialty conditions and procedures: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Heart Bypass Surgery, Heart Failure, & Pacemaker Implantation. This recognition is given to programs that demonstrate exceptional performance in the respective areas. Only a small percentage of hospitals achieve the “High Performing” ranking for each area. Jewish Hospital is Kentucky’s first hospital to be designated as a federally approved center for five solid organ transplants: heart, lung, liver, kidney and pancreas. It’s among a very small percentage of hospitals across the country capable of performing this complex mix of cases.

UofL Health – Mary & Elizabeth Hospital is a 298-bed, full-service hospital which has served generations of patients in south Louisville. Originally founded by the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth in 1874, the hospital offers a full range of vascular, orthopedic, cardiac, neurological, surgical, rehabilitative and 24/7 emergency services including 24/7 STEMI service. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital is home to UofL Health – Weight Loss Care, the region’s only weight-loss management program utilizing the Lap-Band® System. In addition, the hospital provides the Orbera® gastric balloon procedure. The hospital has been recognized as one of the first health care facilities in the nation to receive a Blue Distinction® Center for bariatric surgery.

The Surgical Services Department at UofL Hospital is comprised of several departments in multiple locations. The department provides services to adult patients in the areas of inpatient and outpatient surgery, endoscopy, pain management, interventional nephrology, and infusion services. Surgical specialties include general surgery, colorectal, plastics, urology, vascular and endovascular therapeutics, thoracic, surgical oncology, trauma, OB-GYN, gynecologic oncology, orthopedics, neurosurgery, ophthalmology, ENT, oral maxillofacial, hand surgery and podiatry. Endoscopy specialties include gastroenterology, general surgery, colorectal surgery and pulmonology. UofL Hospital has 22 operating rooms. Fourteen of these rooms are main operating rooms located within UofL Hospital with two featuring the da Vinci® Robot and integrated to meet the needs of these robotic surgery procedures. The other four operating rooms are located at the UofL Physicians – Outpatient Surgery Center. Over 12,000 procedures are completed in our operating rooms annually.

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program is (required).
• All new-hire Associate Degree Registered Nurses are required to start an approved BSN program within one (1) year of hire and complete an approved BSN program within three (3) years of hire (required at UofL Hospital only).
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program (preferred)

• Minimum of one (1) year of hospital OR RN experience (required)

• Current KY RN licensure or compact license with privileges to work in Kentucky (required)

• Basic Life Saving (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) (required)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) (may be required for specific clinical areas)
