- Bold with purpose: We think differently, move with intent and challenge the status quo where it creates better outcomes
About the Role
Valocity provides digital infrastructure for property decisioning and valuation workflows used by banks and lenders across New Zealand, Australia, India and other international markets.
In India, Valocity is delivering its platform to a group of public sector banks. Each bank has its own core banking, loan origination and document management systems, its own security and network standards, and its own internal technology teams. Successful delivery depends on getting the solution design and integrations right, bank by bank, while keeping them aligned with one common Valocity platform.
The Solution & Integration Architect is a senior technical role based in India. The role sits between our customers, our Product team and our Engineering teams, and is accountable for making sure that what we agree with a bank can be designed, built, integrated & supported.
The role combines three areas:
- Solution architecture for bank implementations.
- API and integration design, with customers and internally.
- Requirement definition in support of the Product Manager and Product Owner roles.
This is a hands-on role. The successful candidate will be comfortable reading an API specification, tracing a failed request through logs, drawing the sequence diagram, and then explaining the outcome clearly to a bank's technology team or to Valocity leadership
In one line
A hands-on architect who turns bank requirements into clear, buildable API and integration designs, and works directly with customer technology teams to get those integrations live
What makes this role different
Many architecture roles stop at the design document. Many integration roles start once the requirement is already fixed
This role covers both ends. It shapes the requirement with Product before engineering starts, and it stays with the integration until it is working in the customer's environment.
Major Responsibilities
1. Solution architecture for bank implementations
Own the solution design for Valocity's implementations with Indian banking customers.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead the technical discovery for each bank implementation, including current systems, processes, integration points and constraints.
- Produce solution designs covering application components, integrations, data flows, security, hosting and non-functional requirements.
- Design solutions that meet each bank's needs while keeping them aligned with Valocity's common platform and product roadmap.
- Identify where customer requirements can be met through configuration, existing APIs or standard product features, and where new engineering is genuinely required.
- Keep a clear view of variations between banks and actively avoid unnecessary customer-specific builds.
- Record architecture decisions, assumptions, risks and dependencies.
- Review designs with Engineering, IT Operations and the Global CTO where decisions affect the wider platform.
- Support the technical elements of change requests, including impact, effort and risk.
2. API and integration design
Design and govern the APIs and integrations that connect Valocity's platform with bank systems.
Responsibilities include:
- Define integration patterns for bank connectivity, including REST APIs, webhooks and callbacks, event-driven messaging, and secure batch or file transfer where required
- Write and maintain API specifications using OpenAPI, including resources, payloads, validation rules, error handling, versioning and pagination
- Define authentication and authorisation approaches, including OAuth 2.0, client credentials, mutual TLS, API keys, certificates and IP allow-listing
- Specify idempotency, retry, timeout, rate-limiting and reconciliation behaviour
- Work with Engineering on API gateway and Azure API Management configuration, policies and developer onboarding
- Define data mappings between bank systems and the Valocity data model
- Maintain integration documentation, sequence diagrams and interface control documents for each bank
- Promote reusable, consistent API design so that each new bank integration becomes faster than the last
- Review API changes for backward compatibility and impact on existing customers
3. Requirement definition with Product
Support the Product Manager and Product Owner roles in defining clear, complete and buildable requirements, particularly where APIs and integrations are involved.
Responsibilities include:
- Participate in customer discovery and requirement workshops alongside Product.
- Translate business requirements into technical requirements, API contracts and integration specifications.
- Help the Product Owner write user stories with clear technical acceptance criteria.
- Identify gaps, ambiguities, edge cases and conflicting requirements early.
- Define non-functional requirements, including performance, availability, security, audit, data retention and scalability.
- Support backlog refinement, estimation and sequencing with technical input.
- Help Product assess trade-offs between customer-specific requests and roadmap features.
- Ensure requirements reflect what the platform can actually deliver.
The Product Manager and Product Owner remain accountable for product priorities and the backlog. This role is accountable for the technical quality and feasibility of what is specified.
4. Customer integration delivery
Work directly with bank technology teams and their vendors to get integrations designed, built, tested and live
Responsibilities include:
- Act as the primary technical contact for bank integration teams during implementation.
- Run technical workshops and integration walkthroughs with bank architecture, application, network and security teams.
- Agree API contracts, connectivity, environments and test approaches with each bank.
- Coordinate network connectivity, certificates, whitelisting and access with the bank and Valocity IT Operations.
- Support system integration testing (SIT) and user acceptance testing (UAT), including triage of integration defects.
- Investigate and resolve integration issues using logs, API traces and monitoring tools.
- Support go-live, cutover and early-life support for each bank.
- Hand over integration knowledge and documentation to Support and IT Operations.
- Escalate material risks, delivery blockers or scope changes to the delivery lead, Product and the Global CTO.
5. Security, compliance and bank assurance
Make sure solution and integration designs meet the security and regulatory expectations of Indian banks
Responsibilities include:
- Design integrations that meet bank information security policies and Valocity's security standards.
- Support bank architecture and security reviews of Valocity's solution.
- Contribute technical content to security questionnaires, due diligence and audit responses, working with the Cloud Infrastructure & Technical Assurance Lead.
- Consider data protection, data residency, encryption, logging and audit requirements in every design.
- Apply relevant regulatory expectations, including RBI guidance on IT governance and outsourcing of IT services, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act and CERT-In requirements.
6. Architecture standards and continuous improvement
Help build a repeatable approach to bank implementations in India
Responsibilities include:
- Develop reusable integration patterns, templates and reference designs.
- Contribute to Valocity's API standards and integration guidelines.
- Capture lessons learned from each bank implementation and feed them back into Product and Engineering.
- Identify opportunities to simplify integrations and reduce implementation effort.
- Work with Valocity's other Solution Architects so designs stay consistent across markets.
