The Role

Veeva’s Japan Business Consulting is a unique group fusing strategy and technology, inside a company at the forefront of digital innovation in the Life Science. Establishing a leading Business Consulting practice is a strategic growth priority for Veeva offering a differentiated consulting service with a compelling value proposition – building on Veeva’s position as the digital partner of choice for 85% of the Pharmaceutical companies. The Business Consulting team is focused on supporting our customers' commercial strategies through the design and delivery of solutions for the core business issues faced by today’s field organizations.

The role of a Principal Business Consultant is to be part of the Japan Business Consulting Leadership Team to help grow this practice in Japan and APAC. With a focus on building our brand in the market, developing our customer network and identifying and selling new projects to support our customers to deliver on their more complex and strategic business issues. In addition, support building our practice with recruiting and mentoring of staff.

As a consulting leader, help identify the source of the business issues faced by our customers, develop a structured approach to deliver solutions, and do so in a highly collaborative manner - ultimately building critical customer relationships within the Commercial Business of our customers.

Be among the leaders of the practice with responsibilities to help build the business consulting organization through recruiting, mentoring/coaching of staff and business development activities

Lead business development opportunities – identify and generate new project opportunities, clarify the customers issues and need, be able to develop a compelling, differentiated proposal to solve these issues and win new work

Leverage your network to identify opportunities and develop our business and build new relationships

Establishing relationships with client personnel at appropriate levels within the commercial organization and serving as a primary contact for strategic questions

Support in the creation of new campaigns, offerings and thought leadership that differentiate Business Consulting in the market

Lead multiple project engagement teams – empowering the team to plan and manage all aspects of delivery, from scope to quality assurance

Staying abreast of current business and industry trends relevant to the client's business

10+ years in Life Sciences advisory and industry experience, particularly in the Commercial Operations/Commercial Excellence and/or consulting to this sector

Good understanding of the business capabilities and drivers underpinning digital technology in Life Sciences and market forces driving industry changes

Strong leadership skills and track record of developing and delivering advisory engagements including the ability to manage client relationships and engagement economics

Extensive network of stakeholders within leadership positions in Life Science companies

Core management consulting skills, including workshop facilitation, client presentations, project management, and ability to develop structured approaches/methodologies to business problems

Deep understanding across the entire Commercial value chain with recognized mastery in two or more of the following areas: Brand strategy, product launch, go to market strategy, commercial model design, key account planning and management, segmentation and targeting, multi-channel strategy, and commercial analytics

Ability to travel roughly 50% but this can vary depending on engagement

An effective communicator verbally and written in both English and Japanese

Valid working visa in Japan is required

Experience with digital technologies, analytics tools

Experience working with SaaS solutions

Good understanding of Veeva broader platforms and solutions, and how these can be leveraged and enhanced by commercial consulting services
