THE OPPORTUNITY

Venterra Realty is, at its heart, a technology and data-driven company.  Our strategy is to centralize, automate and liberate.  In today’s world, that means adopting AI to enable our corporate and on-site teams with agentic workflows, deep analytics and machine learning to support our most important decisions.  Good data is the foundation of AI, so Venterra’s Data Engineering team is building a modern data stack with a Medallion architecture based on Snowflake, Airflow and AWS to power our Analytics and AI teams.  We’re integrating our proprietary in-house applications with commercial enterprise applications and third-party data sources to give us an edge in the multi-family real estate business.

We are seeking a Manager, Data Modelling to lead the team responsible for transforming enterprise data into trusted, reusable, business-oriented Data Products. Reporting to the Director, Data Engineering, this player-coach role combines hands-on dimensional modelling with people leadership, technical governance, delivery oversight, and operational support. The Manager will guide analytical data models across the Snowflake-based Enterprise Data Warehouse, ensuring that data assets are accurate, understandable, performant, secure, and aligned with business objectives. The role collaborates closely with Data Engineering, Analytics, Data Science, Cyber Security, Software Development, System Owners, Data Stewards, and business stakeholders.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Data Modelling team responsible for the Snowflake Silver and Gold layers, fostering quality, documentation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Define and enforce analytical modelling standards, patterns, coding practices, and technical direction across the Enterprise Data Warehouse.
  • Guide the design and review of conceptual, logical, and physical models, including conformed dimensions, reusable entities, enterprise metrics, and Kimball-style dimensional structures.
  • Own the design, quality, documentation, lineage, performance, and operational support of Data Products and semantic assets.
  • Establish data quality controls and partner with Cyber Security, Data Stewards, and System Owners on access controls, sensitivity classifications, masking, and governance requirements.
  • Plan and coordinate modelling initiatives, sprint priorities, team capacity, dependencies, risks, testing, and support readiness.
  • Partner with Data Consumers and business stakeholders to define requirements, maintain consistent terminology, communicate changes, and measure adoption and stakeholder satisfaction.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • 8+ years of experience in data warehousing, analytics engineering, business intelligence, data architecture, or a related discipline, including 2+ years leading or mentoring technical teams.
  • Deep expertise in dimensional modelling and Kimball-style design, including facts, dimensions, grain, hierarchies, slowly changing dimensions, and conformed structures.
  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake, dbt, SQL, and enterprise-scale analytical data platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance people leadership, planning, hands-on delivery, technical quality, stakeholder management, and operational support in a player-coach role.
  • Experience leveraging AI tools to accelerate software delivery and coaching up team members in the effective use of these tools
  • Experience defining and enforcing technical standards, data quality practices, governance controls, and secure access patterns.
  • Experience with semantic models, business glossaries, metric governance, metadata management, data lineage, and Power BI or a comparable reporting platform would be an assset.
  • Experience with medallion architectures, analytical platform modernization, Snowflake AI capabilities, and team capability development would be an asset.
