AME-End of Line Deployment Engineer
Quick Summary
Lead the physical installation of manufacturing lines, integrating OT devices and Automation into a unified factory ecosystem.
Vertiv is seeking a AME Manufacturing Development & Deployment Engineer. This role is the critical architect of our "Connected Factory," responsible for the physical and digital realization of manufacturing processes on the plant floor. You will lead the deployment of advanced production lines for Power and Thermal products, ensuring that Discrete Event Simulation (DES) and Yamazumi models are executed with precision. This role requires a leader who can manage the convergence of physical equipment—such as Automation cells and DC Torque tools—with our OT digital stack, including Inductive Automation’s Ignition, Power Apps, and mobile tablet integration, to ensure a seamless "Vertical Startup" with real-time data visibility
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →On-Site Process & OT Deployment: Lead the physical installation of manufacturing lines, integrating OT devices and Automation into a unified factory ecosystem. Orchestrate the rollout of Ignition Perspective HMI and Microsoft Power Apps to provide shop-floor operators with real-time digital work instructions and performance dashboards.
- →Smart Tooling & IoT Integration: Direct the deployment and calibration of DC Torque tools and smart sensors. Ensure these devices are networked to capture granular assembly data (e.g., torque curves, cycle times) to feed directly into the Digital Twin and Quality Management Systems.
- →Factory-Level Yamazumi Execution: Validate and refine Yamazumi modeling on the shop floor. Utilize Tablets and mobile devices to conduct live work content graphing, ensuring the synchronization of manual labor with automated machine cycles to meet Takt time targets.
- →Digital-to-Physical Validation: Use Discrete Event Simulation (DES) data to guide the layout of automation cells and material handling. Verify that the physical throughput and data latency of networked OT devices match simulation predictions, neutralizing bottlenecks during the deployment phase.
- →Full Line Balancing & Tablet-Based SOPs: Synchronize all factory processes, deploying Tablets at each workstation to replace paper-based systems. Ensure a seamless data flow between automated cells and manual enclosure integration through integrated Power Automate workflows.
- →Equipment & Automation Commissioning: Oversee the validation (IQ/OQ/PQ) of manufacturing equipment, including robotics, conveyors, and testing protocols. Ensure all OT infrastructure is robust, secure, and fully communicative with the broader MES/ERP environment.
- →Digital Handoff & Hyper-care: Lead the creation of digital Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Act as the primary technical lead during the launch "hyper-care" period, troubleshooting both physical mechanical issues and digital logic gaps in the Ignition/Power App interface.
- →Cross-Functional Factory Alignment: Collaborate with IT, Plant Managers, and Supply Chain to ensure the factory’s network infrastructure supports high-density IoT and mobile tablet connectivity required for new deployments.
- Deployment & Automation Expertise: Proven ability to manage large-scale equipment installations and PLC/Automation startups in an international environment.
- OT Stack Proficiency: Hands-on experience deploying Inductive Automation (Ignition), Microsoft Power Apps, and Power Automate within a manufacturing context.
- Smart Hardware Integration: Expert knowledge of integrating DC Torque tools, OT gateways, and Industrial Tablets into a production line.
- Operational Line Balancing: Advanced proficiency in Takt time optimization and Work Content Graphing using digital data collection tools.
- Simulation Application: Ability to use Discrete Event Simulation outputs to optimize the placement of automation and the configuration of digital workflows.
- Bilingual Proficiency: Professional fluency in English and Spanish to facilitate communication with regional engineering teams and local factory staff
- Degrees: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum of 15+ years of hands-on experience in manufacturing deployment or plant engineering, specifically with power products or high-complexity electronics.
- Proven Launch Track Record: Demonstrated success in "Vertical Startups" and the physical implementation of DFM/DFA principles on the factory floor.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with Advanced Simulation tools (e.g., FlexSim, Arena) and CAD (SolidWorks/AutoCAD) for factory footprint and layout design.
- Certification: Six Sigma Black Belt or Lean Certification is highly desirable.
