We are currently looking for a Product Controls Engineer to join our dynamic team in Zagreb, Croatia!
As a Product Product Controls Engineer, you will take ownership of the design and development of advanced control systems for mission-critical datacenter facilities, modular infrastructure projects and AI factories worldwide. You will lead the delivery of Building Management Systems (BMS), Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), and related automation solutions that ensure reliability, efficiency, and sustainability.
The role combines engineering collaboration with Pre-Sales, Product Management, Marketing, and cross-functional engineering teams to develop technical solutions, general design, network architecture, and system integration. You will develop control system solutions and BIM-based designs, producing engineering deliverables such as control schematics, I/O lists, network diagrams, sequences of operation, equipment specifications, and material submittals. You will also contribute to PLC software architecture, SCADA application development, industrial communication networks, and integration of third-party systems.
We're looking for engineers who enjoy solving complex, critical engineering challenges, continuously improving technology solutions, and working with modern automation platforms, virtualization technologies, industrial protocols, and AI-assisted engineering tools.
- Develop control system platforms, concepts, and detailed global engineering designs as required.
- Support product development activities, including conceptual and detailed design phases.
- Provide technical support to Pre-Sales, Offering, Marketing, and other engineering teams in the development of technical solutions.
- Participate in prototype development and project execution activities.
- Develop and manage engineering designs in Revit, including BMS architectures, control system block diagrams, floor plans, sections, I/O lists, and PLC/DDC platforms (CODESYS or equivalent).
- Prepare equipment and material specifications, as well as technical, presentation, and marketing documentation.
- Ensure compliance with applicable international, regional, and national standards (worldwide), company standards, and engineering best practices throughout the design process.
- Participate in project kick-off meetings, regular project team meetings, and coordination meetings.
- Report project status and progress to the Lead Engineer.
- Collaborate proactively with multidisciplinary project teams throughout project execution.
- Coordinate and provide support to controls system integrators under the guidance of the Lead Controls Engineer.
- Initiate Requests for Information (RFIs) when additional technical clarification is required.
- Prepare project documentation in accordance with the approved Document List (DLIST).
- Define material and service requirements necessary for project execution.
- Specify certification and compliance requirements for procured materials and equipment.
- Provide technical support to suppliers during the tendering and procurement phases.
- Review and provide technical approval of supplier quotations and proposals.
- Provide technical support to subcontractors and installers during manufacturing and installation activities.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing and Site Deployment teams throughout project execution.
- Support Site Managers during installation activities by providing technical solutions and engineering guidance.
- Work closely with Quality teams during component, system, and site installation inspections.
- Support Commissioning Engineers in the preparation of testing and commissioning documentation.
- Prepare and maintain as-built documentation.
- Provide support during Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).
- Support site commissioning and start-up activities.
- Assist with internal testing and FAT activities at the Rugvica manufacturing facility.
- Support site commissioning teams throughout the commissioning process.
- Prepare installation, operation, and maintenance documentation.
Requirements
~1 min read- University degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology
- Experience with automation, control systems, and system integration in industrial, commercial, or mission-critical environments
- English minimum B2 Level
- Knowledge of the following areas is preferred, but not mandatory:
- PLC/DDC programming (CODESYS preferred)
- SCADA platforms (Ignition preferred)
- AutoCAD and BIM tools (Revit preferred)
- Control panel design, testing, and commissioning
- Industrial communication protocols (Modbus, BACnet, OPC UA, MQTT, SNMP)
- Ethernet networking and managed switches
- SQL databases and data-driven applications (SQL Server, PostgreSQL)
- Linux environments and virtualization technologies (VMware ESXi, Proxmox, VirtualBox)
- Docker containers and modern software development tools
- 20% travel requirement.
