Responsibilities
~1 min readTeaching: Faculty member will have teaching responsibilities in all areas of transplant surgery.
Research: Faculty member will establish clinical research projects with a record of publication in refereed journals and external funding. They are expected to develop interdisciplinary collaborations to enhance the research program in at VCU. In addition, they will mentor both undergraduate and graduate students in their research laboratory.
Service: Faculty will serve on departmental and/or hospital committees as necessary and participate in regional and national professional organizations
Clinical: Clinical responsibilities will be in the care of the Transplant Surgery patients on the MCV campus of VCU, as well as community facilities, will include deceased and living donor kidney and liver transplantation, and pancreas transplantation. Additional opportunities exist with an extensive multidisciplinary hepato -biliary surgery practice as well as dialysis access (hemo and peritoneal).
Requirements
~1 min read- Must be board certified/board eligible in transplant surgery or equivalent
- ASTS fellowship training in multi-organ transplantation and procurement
- Able to meet licensing requirements in Virginia, and be UNOS certified or eligible
- Prior experience teaching residents and medical students
- Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
- Board certification in general surgery will be expected during the course of the appointment, commensurate with board requirements
- Training in robotic surgery
