The Buyer/Expeditor is responsible for performing procurement activities to ensure the timely purchase of materials and equipment to meet project requirements. Duties include:

• →Working within a project team environment, potentially on multiple projects
• →Ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement while adhering to client requirements and proper procurement practices
• →Maintaining status reports
• →Preparing, issuing and evaluating standard procurement documents including bid lists, request for quotation and commercial bid evaluations
• →Purchasing mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, structural steel and piping commodity materials and equipment
• →Executing appropriate bidding strategies
• →Creating and issuing purchase orders for materials and equipment 
• →Assisting in the negotiation of progress payments 
• →Developing and managing vendor/contractor relationships
• →Assisting with expediting, as required
• →Performing other duties as requested
• →Attending and potentially managing purchase order kick off meetings 
• →Attending local shop expediting visits, as required
• →Closing purchase orders 
• →Communicating with suppliers to resolve issues affecting a purchase order
• →Attending status meetings with suppliers 
• →Reviewing material and service invoices for accuracy
• →Coordinating transportation and logistics, as required
• →Performing other duties as requested

• Four (4) years of purchasing experience
• Willingness to complete expediting activities as required
• High-school diploma or equivalent
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Ability to adapt in a changing environment
• Ability to work without supervision
• Open to Canadian residents only

• Experience in contracts
• Post-secondary certification or equivalent
• Five years of purchasing experience in an engineering, procurement, construction environment
