We have four exciting Volunteer Engagement Workers opportunities across HMP Hull and HMP Humber. As a Volunteer Engagement worker with Change Grow Live, you’ll work alongside our experienced teams to support people in custody with their recovery journey, helping them build confidence, make positive changes and move towards the future they want.

This is a rewarding opportunity to use your time, skills and experience to make a real difference to people’s lives. By offering encouragement, understanding and practical support, you can help people take positive steps towards recovery and a healthier, more positive future.

Responsibilities

~2 min read

With this role, you’ll be working as part of the Change Grow Live prison team at HMP Hull or HMP Humber, alongside Recovery Coordinators, Engagement Workers, peer mentors and other colleagues.

The team supports people in custody who are affected by drug and alcohol issues, helping them access treatment, make positive changes and work towards their recovery. As a Prison Engagement Volunteer, you’ll play an important part in supporting people throughout their treatment journey. This could include helping people engage with the service, showcasing the service offer, supporting referrals and appointments, providing appropriate harm reduction information, and encouraging participation in recovery and health and wellbeing activities.

You may also have the opportunity to support one to one and group work and with appropriate training and supervision. No two days are the same and we treat every person who comes into our service as an individual, so being flexible, curious and a good listener are key.

We will support you in this volunteering role by ensuring that you receive regular supervision, and have someone on site who you can approach for day-to-day advice and guidance. In return for the time you give you will receive valuable training and gain experience and skills. You’ll be making a real difference too.

This is what one of our Volunteer Recovery Co-ordinators/people who use our service had to say (use quotes from your service): “I like the team spirit, that we all bring something different and we always put the people who use our service first”.
