The FPGA Manager for our Products line is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the engineering team, for assigning engineering resources, and ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget. This is a highly technical role where the candidate will be developing and testing FPGA code for, at least, 50% of the time thus, the successful candidate shall know how to conduct FPGA design, simulation and testing on hardware.

The position reports to the VP of Product Design and is part of the Engineering department based in San Diego, CA. This role is 100% onsite. 

 

In this role, the essential functions are:

  • Design, develop and test FPGA designs for space communication systems, including but not limited to, resampling, filtering, mixing and error correction coding
  • Assist in architecting solutions against requirements and implementing those solutions in various FPGA technologies or platforms
  • Optimize FPGA designs for speed, performance and resource utilization and conducting thorough testing and validation
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the engineering team and the development and execution of projects
  • Support internal and external design and development reviews with related documentation
  • Assist in project resource allocations overseeing that engineers are efficiently allocated and have a balanced workload
  • Participate in proposals and trade studies, including evaluating contractor and subcontractor proposals for technical feasibility.
  • Review contract/proposals/opportunities, with emphasis on SOW, technical requirements, data requirements and statement of compliance before acceptance and transfer it to the engineering team after acceptance

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent and
  • 7+ years of industry experience implementing complex, high speed, FPGA designs of high-throughput algorithms
  • Experience leading high performing technical teams and mentoring engineers 
  • Previous experience with FPGA design, integration, & test (preferably with Xilinx and Microsemi RTG4)
  • Able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience in the design of qualified FPGA/hardware for space.
  • Relevant experience engaging government and commercial customers to advance projects and initiatives at varying degrees of complexity through engineering management

 

 

Travel, Physical and/or Government Mandated Requirements:

  • Able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance

 

The good faith base salary range for this role is $165,000–$215,000 at the time of this posting. Where you fall within the range depends on your experience, skills, and location. This range reflects base salary only and does not include benefits or bonus/incentive. This range may be adjusted in the future.
