About the role:

As a Mechanical Build & Integration Technician at Waabi, you will assemble, integrate, and support the build of sensor, compute, and actuation hardware onto autonomous truck platforms. This role is hands-on and requires strong attention to detail, comfort working across mechanical, electrical, and fluid systems, and the ability to follow documented work instructions accurately and consistently. You will work closely with mechanical and electrical engineering teams to build vehicles, improve integration processes, identify quality issues, and help ensure that hardware is installed safely, correctly, and repeatably. This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys hands-on technical work, takes pride in high-quality builds, and wants to grow within a fast-moving autonomous vehicle hardware program.

You will...

Assemble and integrate mechanical systems, subassemblies, and hardware components onto vehicle platforms according to work instructions, drawings, checklists, and standard operating procedures
Perform mechanical assembly, sensor and actuator installation, bracket and mount fabrication support, fluid routing, and other hands-on build tasks
Support wiring, harness routing, and connector installation where mechanical and electrical integration intersect
Follow established quality checks and test procedures to verify that assemblies are complete, accurate, and functioning as intended
Work closely with mechanical and electrical engineering to clarify instructions, resolve build issues, and support program priorities
Identify and communicate documentation gaps, recurring build issues, part problems, and opportunities to improve integration quality or efficiency
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while properly handling tools, equipment, parts, and in-progress vehicle builds
Support troubleshooting, rework, and checkout activities during vehicle builds and integration cycles
Accurately document work completed, issues found, test results, and any deviations from standard procedures using PLM/document control tools

Qualifications:

Hands-on experience in mechanical assembly, vehicle integration, robotics, automation, equipment assembly, field service, or a related technical environment
Ability to follow work instructions, assembly procedures, mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation with strong attention to detail
Experience with common hand tools, power tools, torque tools, crimping tools, meters, and basic shop or production equipment
Comfortable performing mechanical assembly, cable/harness routing, basic electrical troubleshooting, and system-level checks
Strong communication skills and willingness to ask questions, flag issues early, and collaborate with technicians, engineering, and quality teams
Reliable, organized, and able to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and consistency
Ability to safely lift, carry, and move parts, tools, and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs

Bonus Qualifications:

Autonomous Vehicle and/or automotive industry experience is a plus
Experience with sensor and compute hardware integration on vehicle platforms
Familiarity with PLM tools and document revision control
Basic fabrication skills (drilling, tapping, bracket modification)
