LCAC Mechanical Superintendent

The Superintendent is responsible for comprehending and utilizing blueprints, sketches, drawings, technical manuals, and work specification instructions in order to repair or replace machinery components related to LCACs. This position reports directly to the Project Manager.

This position is responsible for the following: Other duties may be assigned.

• →Supervision of the mechanical crew and all mechanical work performed on crafts.
• →Adjust, maintain, and repair / replace subassemblies, not limited to engines, gearboxes, props, and shafts using hand tools, jacks, hoists, and cranes.
• →Assemble gear systems, and align frames and gears
• →Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment.
• →Examine parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges.
• →Fit bearings to adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
• →Repair and replacement of damaged or worn parts
• →Research, order, and maintain parts inventory for services and repairs.
• →Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with specifications.
• →Adhere to technical documentation, report when conditions do not meet required specifications.
• →Working knowledge of procedures, strong mechanical aptitude, and ability to follow directions.
• →Be able to operate / read mechanical precision measuring equipment.
• →Be able to read and interpret basic drawings and tech manuals.
• →Identify issues and problem solving.
• →Perform efficiently with first-time quality while meeting deadlines.
• →General knowledge of USN Standard Items.
• →Adjust, maintain, and possess knowledge of machinery alignments.

• High School Diploma or Certificate from a college or technical school or equivalent combination of education and experience in mechanical role preferred.
• Industrial and/or marine advanced mechanical experience preferred:

• Journeyman 1: 1-3 years
• Journeyman 2: 3-5 years
• Journeyman 3: 5+ years

• 2+ years Navy ship repair experience (shipyard, contractor, government)
• Ability to comprehend and utilize blueprints, sketches, drawings, technical manuals to weld metals
• Must have strong work ethic, be self-motivated, and able to multitask
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment with ongoing deadlines
• Must be able to work independently
• Understanding of Ship repair industry
• Must be DBIDS/TWIC credential eligible
• Must possess a valid driver's license
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test

• LCAC/SSC experience preferred

• Open-air conditions such as noisy, hot, cold, as well as in an office-controlled environment.
• May have work in confined spaces.
• Must wear hearing, eye, head protection and proper PPE when required.
• Visits may require standing on a variety of surfaces and at differing angles, bending over, crouching, climbing up ladders, and over obstructions such as scaffolding and internal craft structural members to perform work.
• 50lbs. of lifting may be involved.
• Some travel may be required
