General Summary

 

The Assessor Reviewer II - PASRR Assessor – Qualified Mental Health Clinician is responsible for face-to-face, in-person assessments of individuals who belong to vulnerable populations (with known or suspected major mental illness and/or intellectual developmental disabilities) entering or living in different nursing facilities in the District of Columbia. Persons being assessed may reside in the community, hospitals, or skilled nursing facilities. The incumbent will be expected to review information confirming the individual's appropriate mental health or developmental disability diagnoses, determine the least restrictive level of care, and identify the appropriate specialized services for the individual above what is typically provided in the nursing facility setting. This position may eventually also serve as a mentor or preceptor for new staff, assisting in the formal training of assessors, completing quality assurance competency reviews, and may be involved in process improvement initiatives.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

According to the ADA 1990, reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 

  • Performs Pre-admission Screening and Resident Review (PASRR) Level 2 face-to-face assessments of persons entering or living in nursing facilities with a suspected or known major mental illness and/or intellectual developmental disability, or related condition.
  • Utilization of the DSM-V to confirm or rule out known or suspected behavioral health diagnoses.
  • Collaborates with health care providers, ancillary service providers, family, and/or legal representatives to assess the individual appropriately.
  • Documents Level 2 evaluations in the client’s web-based portal.
  • Attends quality assurance competency training and quality improvement efforts as assigned.
  • May support other assessors in being trained as needed.

 

Requirements

 

  • Master’s degree in social work.
  • Extensive experience independently assessing and diagnosing psychiatric conditions.
  • Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) with a current and unrestricted District of Columbia license.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • QIDP or experience and education working with individuals with IDD and/or SIS assessment experience is a plus.
  • PASRR experience preferred.

Work Environment 

 

The working environment noise level is moderate. The sensitivity level of information handled in this position is high. The position will be primarily field-based, mainly in various nursing facilities and hospitals. There may be on-site, pre-scheduled, and impromptu meetings in the local office.

 

Schedule

  • As Needed, PRN
  • Must have weekday availability (preferably Thursdays and Fridays)
