Day (United States of America)

An apheresis nurse is a specialized registered nurse who performs apheresis — the process of removing blood from a patient or donor, separating its components, collecting one or more (such as plasma, platelets, white blood cells, or stem cells), and returning the rest to the patient.  This is used in both therapeutic treatments for conditions like blood cancers, autoimmune disorders, and sickle cell disease, and in donor programs for blood products.
