Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic

Position Summary This position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and overhauling mining equipment in the shop and field. Duties and Responsibilities Conduct inspections on mining equipment and report any deficiencies. Identify worn and damaged parts, repairing, adjusting, or replacing as needed. Troubleshoot and diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs. Repair equipment in accordance with diagrams and manufacturer’s specifications. Test repaired equipment to ensure operating efficiency. Perform preventative maintenance and operational performance checks on equipment. Collect data on machine operations and suggest actions to reduce machine downtime. Maintain records of repairs and preventative maintenance activities. Operate support equipment as required. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalency certificate. Red Seal Journeyperson Heavy Duty Equipment Technician certification. Valid Class 5 driver’s license.  Previous experience in a mining environment is an asset. Must be able to work 12-hour shifts, rotating days and nights. Schedule  This position currently follows a 28-day shift rotation working day and night shifts from 7:00 to 7:00.  The shift rotation is: 3 days, 2 off, 2 nights, 3 off, 2 days, 2 off, 3 nights, 2 off, 2 days, 3 off, 2 nights, 2 off. Location The Estevan Mine is located approximately 12 km from the city of Estevan and 16 km from the town of Bienfait.  The successful candidate will be responsible for his/her own accommodations and transportation.
