Associate Director, Trade Finance Collateral & Facility Reviewer

You’ll establish and lead Westpac’s ongoing approach to facility and collateral reviews across our Structured Trade Finance portfolio, including Inventory Finance, Receivables Finance and Borrowing Base Finance. Your work will help Westpac understand how facilities are operating, how collateral is being managed and whether customers are meeting their agreed terms and conditions.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll visit customer sites across Australia to review receivables, inspect physical inventory and understand how customers manage their stock, systems and financial records. You’ll assess the information available, test supporting evidence and provide an independent view of any risks or areas requiring attention.

Working closely with customers and teams across Product Management, Collateral Management, Credit, Risk and Relationship Management, you’ll prepare clear, evidence-based reports and agree practical actions to address your findings. You’ll also manage the review schedule, monitor agreed actions and help shape the procedures and review standards that support this growing portfolio.

This is a full-time, permanent role based in Sydney, with regular travel to customer offices, plants and storage sites across Australia.

You’ll bring practical knowledge of secured lending or collateral reviews, along with the judgement and communication skills to conduct thorough, independent reviews.

• Experience in facility reviews, collateral reviews, inventory or receivables audits, commodity trade finance, credit, secured lending or institutional banking, with an understanding of the risks associated with lending against inventory and receivables.
• Strong knowledge of how businesses manage receivables and inventory in practice, including debtor ledgers, ageing reports, stock records, warehouse or ERP systems, stocktakes and cycle counts. You’ll be comfortable reviewing source data, testing samples and exceptions, and reconciling information across operational and financial records.
• The ability to conduct detailed onsite inspections of physical goods, including verifying stock quantities, condition, ownership, storage arrangements and insurance coverage, and comparing your observations with inventory records and facility requirements.
• Strong analytical judgement, risk assessment and report-writing skills, with the ability to assess controls, identify areas of concern and clearly document your findings. You’ll be able to prepare factual, evidence-based reports that explain risks and recommend practical actions for senior stakeholders.
• Confident customer and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to ask thoughtful questions, handle sensitive information and communicate findings professionally. You’ll also be comfortable planning and delivering independent reviews, managing competing priorities and travelling regularly to customer sites across Australia.
