How will I help?

  • The Asset Finance team originates, structures, executes and manages asset backed financing solutions for large corporate clients across a broad range of industries including technology, digital infrastructure, aviation, shipping, rail, transport, natural resources, defence and diversified industries.
  • Typical transactions range from US$50 million to US$500 million+, and include secured loans, finance leases, syndicated facilities, club deals and bilateral financings. Transactions are secured against strategic assets including data centre and IT equipment, AI and GPU infrastructure, aircraft, maritime assets, rail, transport fleets, mining equipment, industrial plant and other critical business assets.
  • This role provides the opportunity to support the continued growth of Westpac's Asset Finance business across the Northern Hemisphere. You will work on the origination and execution of complex transactions while helping manage a growing portfolio of clients and exposures. The successful candidate will work closely with both the New York and UK/Europe Asset Finance teams and report to the Director, Head of Asset Finance Americas.

The role may be appointed at either Associate or Senior Associate level depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Support the origination, structuring and execution of asset finance transactions across a range of sectors and asset classes. 
  • Manage a portfolio of existing clients and support ongoing financing requirements. 
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals, RFP responses, term sheets and credit applications. 
  • Build financial models and analyse transaction returns using Excel and internal systems. 
  • Support transaction execution, including credit approvals, legal documentation and funding processes. 
  • Develop industry and sector knowledge through market research and client presentations. 
  • Build relationships with clients, investors and banking partners to support market presence and deal flow. 
  • Contribute to portfolio management, policy development and wider strategic initiatives. 
  • Maintain a strong focus on risk management and regulatory compliance.

Salary Range: USD $95,000 to $150,000, plus bonus, depending on experience.

What do I need?

  • Minimum 1-4 years of banking experience, with a good understanding of common banking systems and operational processes. Alternatively, you may have a similar level of experience in an analytical position within accounting, alternative investments or a consulting/advisory role, working with complex debt transactions.
  • Some previous exposure to structured lending is desirable, as it will provide exposure to technical areas such as financial modelling, credit analysis, and essential legal concepts, which will support success in the role.
  • Self-motivated with strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Ability to develop and maintain an active network with banks and other investors.
  • Proven ability to build trust and rapport with internal stakeholders across diverse functions.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work to tight timeframes in a deal-driven environment.
  • High customer service values, with commercial awareness and business acumen.
  • Ability to work seamlessly across teams and geographies.
