What's the role?
Home Lending is one of Westpac's most significant businesses, helping Australians achieve home ownership and financial wellbeing. As Head of Business Controls, Monitoring, Home Lending, you will lead the First Line Risk agenda for one of Australia's largest home lending businesses and help shape how Westpac delivers strong customer outcomes, regulatory excellence and sustainable growth.
Reporting to the Divisional Head of BCM, Consumer, you'll set the strategic direction for First Line Risk, controls, monitoring and remediation across the end-to-end Home Lending Delivery Unit. You'll ensure risk management is embedded in how the business operates, balancing strong customer outcomes, commercial performance and regulatory obligations.
Operating at the intersection of business strategy and risk stewardship, you'll provide leadership across mortgage origination, assessment, fulfilment and servicing activities. You'll partner closely with senior leaders at Group Executive, Managing Director and COO level in Home Lending, Product, Risk, Compliance and Legal to proactively identify emerging risks, strengthen controls and drive sustainable uplift across the business.
This is an opportunity to lead a First Line Risk function in an evolving landscape in Australia. You will lead a high performing team of circa 30 people in a complex business area, influencing executive decision making and shaping the future resilience of Westpac's Home Lending Delivery Unit.
- Significant leadership experience within a First Line Risk function in banking and financial services with a strong preference in home lending / mortgage domain.
- Deep understanding of mortgages, lending operations, external risks in home lending and the regulatory environment governing Australian home lending.
- Demonstrated success leading business controls, risk management, monitoring, governance or remediation programs within a large and complex organisation.
- Proven ability to influence executive stakeholders at GM and Group Executive level, and drive accountability for risk ownership across the business.
- A track record of building high performing teams and embedding strong risk culture, customer outcomes and continuous improvement.
