What’s the role?

As a Senior Manager, Data, Digital & AI (DDAI) – Business Controls & Monitoring, you'll play a key role in strengthening the risk and control environment across the Business & Wealth division, helping the business safely deliver digital, data, and AI initiatives while meeting customer, regulatory, and commercial objectives.

Working within the DDAI BCM team, you'll provide strategic risk advice and thought leadership across data, digital, AI, and technology-related risks. You'll partner closely with business leaders, Technology teams, second line risk functions, and Group Audit to identify emerging risks, strengthen controls, and ensure initiatives are delivered within risk appetite.

A key focus of the role is driving the uplift of the control environment through targeted reviews, deep dives, quality assessments, automation opportunities, and governance enhancements. You'll also support the safe and responsible use of data, advise on emerging AI and digital risks, and help build strong risk awareness and ownership across the division.

This is an 18‑month max term opportunity, with Sydney as the preferred location, although Melbourne will also be considered for the right candidate, and operates under a hybrid working model.

What do I need?

• Proven experience in operational risk, compliance, assurance, legal, or business controls within financial services
• Experience working within Data, Digital, Technology, Responsible AI, or transformation environments
• Strong understanding of risk management frameworks, controls, governance, and regulatory obligations
• Experience conducting control reviews, quality assessments, deep dives, or assurance activities and driving improvements to control effectiveness
• Proven ability to influence and build strong relationships across business, technology, audit, and risk stakeholders
• Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving capability, with the ability to provide practical risk advice and challenge

Exposure to data risk, digital risk, AI governance, technology risk, or responsible AI frameworks will be highly regarded.
