Industrial Painter

Description

The Industrial Painter is responsible for preparing metal surfaces and applying primer and finish coatings to manufactured steel products and equipment. This position plays an important role in the final appearance, durability, and quality of our products.

The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, pays close attention to surface preparation and coating application, and follows established safety and quality procedures.

• →Prepare steel and other surfaces for coating by removing dirt, oil, grease, rust, and other contaminants.
• →Use appropriate cleaning products and surface-preparation methods to ensure coatings properly adhere to the material.
• →Prepare, measure, and blend paints, primers, and other coating materials according to required specifications.
• →Set up and inspect spray equipment, including hoses, spray guns, nozzles, and related components.
• →Adjust spray equipment settings to achieve appropriate coverage, pressure, and spray patterns.
• →Apply primer and finish coatings evenly while maintaining consistent coverage and appearance.
• →Inspect completed work for coverage, finish quality, and other coating defects and address issues as needed.
• →Remove corrosion and surface imperfections using grinders, wire brushes, steel wool, and other hand or power tools.
• →Safely move and position materials using overhead cranes and monorail paint hoists.
• →Maintain tools, equipment, and the work area in a clean and orderly condition.
• →Follow all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and applicable workplace practices.
• →Work cooperatively with other production team members to meet quality and production expectations.

Requirements

Qualifications and Requirements

• →High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred/required.
• →Previous industrial, manufacturing, or spray-coating experience preferred.
• →Experience operating overhead cranes and forklifts is required.
• →Ability to successfully complete a pulmonary fit test.
• →Ability to read and follow work instructions and safety procedures.
• →Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality work.
• →Ability to safely operate spray-painting equipment and related tools.
• →Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing environment and as part of a team.
• →Ability to maintain a clean and safe work area throughout the workday.
