As a Water / Wastewater Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of wastewater collection and water distribution systems, including remote pump station equipment, valves, piping, lift stations, and water meters.

Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Flexibility and extended shifts may be required to meet seasonal demands of the water and wastewater system.
Reliable and dependable attendance is an essential function of the position.

On-Call Responsibilities:

Must be available to serve in an on-call rotation, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Required to carry the on-call phone while assigned to on-call duties.
Must be able to respond to emergency events and alarm callouts within one hour.
Receive a $200 weekly bonus while serving on-call.
Receive a minimum of 2 hours pay at 1.5x overtime rate for each callout related to water plants, splash pad operations, lift stations, E-1 stations, water breaks, and wastewater plant issues.

Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on lift stations, E-1 grinder pump stations, water plants, splash pad facilities, wastewater plants, and associated assets, including generators, auxiliary pumps, blowers, and inspections.

Repair leaks to water lines, sewer E-1 pressurized lines, and force mains as needed.

Replace lift station and/or E-1 submersible pumps when required.

Install and replace water meters as needed.

Perform monthly meter readings.

Work with utility billing and customer service functions.

Complete weekly vehicle and asset inspections.

Flush hydrants, exercise valves, and perform mowing and trimming at lift stations, water plants, and wastewater plants as needed.

Service and test backflow devices (if licensed).

Collect water distribution samples under the guidance of a licensed operator when required.

Operate a variety of heavy and light equipment, including crane trucks, bush hogs, mini excavators, and valve exercisers as needed.

Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Graduation from a standard high school or vocational school, including or supplemented by courses in mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation maintenance.

Experience in the operation and maintenance of pumps, compressors, electric motors, and plumbing fixtures preferred.

Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills.

Ability to repair pumping equipment and control switches.

Experience with wastewater and water transfer systems is a plus.

Water Distribution License issued by the State of Florida or the ability to obtain one within 18 months.

Valid Florida driver’s license with a safe driving record.

CDL Class B or higher is a plus; however, the ability to obtain a Florida DOT Medical Card is required to operate the crane truck.
