A growing energy and environmental commodities brokerage is seeking a hands-on Manager of Brokerage Operations to support and develop the EMEA Middle Office function. 

This role combines day-to-day operational delivery with increasing ownership of processes and controls, acting as a key link between Front Office, Compliance, IT, and Finance. 

The position is suited to a strong operator looking to step into broader responsibility, with a clear path to expanded ownership as the function scales. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Support and perform daily Middle Office activities, including trade input, reconciliations, and client data maintenance 

  • Ensure accurate and timely execution of core trade lifecycle processes 

  • Provide first-line escalation support for operational issues 

 

  • Apply and maintain operational standards and basic control frameworks 

  • Support delivery of daily, monthly, and regulatory reporting 

  • Identify practical opportunities to improve processes and reduce operational risk 

 

  • Act as a key operational contact for brokers, ensuring smooth trade capture and workflow support 

  • Coordinate with Compliance, Finance, and IT to resolve issues and maintain effective processes 

 

  • Work closely with junior resource(s), providing guidance and oversight where required 

  • Contribute to building a stable and scalable Middle Office structure over time 

 

Required: 

  • Solid experience in brokerage operations or Middle Office within commodities or financial markets 

  • Working knowledge of trade lifecycle processes and operational controls 

  • Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to operate in a fast-paced environment 

  • Comfortable using Excel to support day-to-day operational tasks, including working with trade data, basic formulas, and data validation 

 

  • Exposure to MiFID II / REMIT reporting requirements 

  • Exposure with commodities platforms and exchanges (e.g. Trayport, ICE, EEX) 

  • Familiarity with xml files 

 

Opportunity 
This role offers a path to regional ownership of EMEA brokerage operations within a firm expanding across energy transition and environmental markets. The successful candidate will play a key role in enabling frontoffice growth while building a scalable, wellcontrolled operating platform.

Base Salary
Compensation for this role will vary among specific regions due to geographic differentials in the labor market, actual pay will be determined considering factors such as relevant skills and experience, knowledge, education and training. However, compensation in the following regions is expected to be as follows:
London: Compensation is expected to be between
£50,000-£70,000
