About the Role
~1 min readWillow Wealth is hiring a Director, Head of Portfolio Management and Valuation to lead our Portfolio Management team. The role will be based in our New York City office and will report to our Chief Financial Officer / Chief Operating Officer. You will own valuation, risk ratings, and reporting across all of Willow Wealth’s sub-advisor relationships and asset classes. You will also manage a distributed team based in New York and Athens, Greece.
Portfolio Management is strategically integrated into Willow Wealth’s investment process at every stage - from independent risk review at underwriting through ongoing oversight of portfolio-level concentration, valuation, and risk. The team works closely with Investments, Product, Marketing, Finance, Legal, and Operations, and coordinates directly with our third-party partners across private credit, commercial real estate / single-family rental, and art finance.
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Portfolio Construction & Valuation - own the firm’s quarterly investment review and valuation processes end to end in accordance with the firm’s policies and procedures
- →Risk Governance - challenge credit and risk assumptions, and own the pre-close risk rating process
- →Sub-Advisory Oversight - manage the firm’s sub-advisory relationships, including review of pre-existing and new investments
- →Team Leadership - manage and develop a distributed Portfolio Management team spanning New York and Athens, Greece
- →Investor & Board Communications - own valuation and portfolio performance commentary/materials intended for the company board, valuation and investment committees
- →Monitor and escalate emerging portfolio- and single-investment-level risk factors, and coordinate workout/restructuring strategy with external advisors as well as investor communication on sub-performing investments
- →Work collaboratively with the Investment team and Investment Committee, reviewing deal-level and portfolio-level risk ahead of IC decisions
- →Own the quarterly tiering and valuation workflow - from underlying data through roll-forward valuation models, investment review decks, and final IC and Board packages
- →Direct oversight of Willow Wealth’s sub-advisory relationships, including diligence on new sub-advisory agreements and ongoing monitoring of sub-advisor and investment performance
- →Set and enforce IC-readiness documentation standards - rating consistency, mark-change commentary, and data/language quality controls - across all investment review and valuation output
- →Sponsor the team’s data and reporting automation roadmap, including roll-out of AI improvements
- →Represent Portfolio Management cross-functionally with Investments, Product, Marketing, Finance, Legal, and Operations
Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; CFA or CAIA strongly preferred
- 10+ years in investment / asset management, credit underwriting, portfolio risk, or valuations, including several years in a senior risk, valuation, or portfolio leadership role
- Self-motivated, with proven success thriving in a highly dynamic and fast paced environment
- Direct people-management experience, ideally leading a distributed or cross-time-zone team
- Strong technical toolkit - advanced Excel/VBA and SQL required; DCF and valuation modeling proficiency required
- Comfort operating at IC and Board level - able to defend valuation marks, risk ratings, and portfolio recommendations to senior stakeholders
- Experience overseeing third-party managers or sub-advisors, including review of governing agreements for operational and risk implications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to translate complex risk and valuation concepts into IC- and Board-ready materials
- Track record of building or scaling risk/reporting infrastructure and process automation
- Deal- and process-execution orientation, with the organizational skill to manage multiple concurrent deliverables against IC and Board deadlines

This is a New York-based role. The base salary range for this position is USD 200,000 to 250,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. This role is eligible for a discretionary bonus and equity compensation as part of the total compensation package.
