Primate Caregiver II, Black Beauty Ranch

The hourly range for this full time position is $20 - 25, plus full benefits. Salary offers will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, skills, training and education. Humane World for Animals, a global leader in animal advocacy and protection, is seeking an Animal Caregiver II at our Black Beauty Ranch (BBR) in Murchison, Texas. In this position you will provide care to animals within multiple animal care sections at Black Beauty Ranch, including both domestic and exotic species.  Animal Caregiver II positions may be based out of one section or may move across sections as needed.   Responsibilities: Provides daily care, training, enrichment and observation of animals. Maintains daily reports and records of daily care, feeding, husbandry, animal behavior, and other information as requested. Participates in team meetings to discuss animal wellbeing and planning. Able to use strategies from one animal group to another related to wellness, husbandry and enrichment; Provides mentorship to AC1 and engages in coaching to promote successful completion of learning and contributing to the animal area; Cleans and provides daily upkeep for enclosures, habitats, and work areas. Participate in group enclosure refresh sessions for major enrichment and horticulture changes across various animal sections; Dispenses prescriptions as directed and communicates with vet staff via prescription logs and daily reports. Participates in team problem solving sessions to resolve challenging medication or treatment compliance issues; Assists care and vet teams with animal health and wellness procedures. Participates in pre- and post- procedure meetings to improve animal care; Takes lead role in preparing animals for medical procedures or introducitons of new animals as well as goal-based enrichment planning; Assists with overseeing interns and volunteers in assigned area, including team meetings with interns to share methods in animal care problem-solving; Performs other duties or responsibilities, as assigned.   Qualifications and Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates of college degree in life sciences or a related field preferred; Three (3) years of experience in animal care at an accredited facility preferred; Must have or be able to obtain TB testing; Willing and able to work a flexible schedule including holidays and weekends; Ability to remember and follow safety and animal welfare guidelines for a wide range of animals; Proficient at basic positive reinforcement training and goal-based enrichment implementation; Proficiency of Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook); Strong written and verbal communication skills; Attention to detail and commitment to excellence demonstrated by the delivery of quality and timely outcomes; Strong interpersonal skills are necessary; Strong interest in animal protection issues preferred.   This is a full time position located in Murchison, TX.
