The client is seeking a motivated and highly organized Sales Development and Customer Support Specialist to support the continued growth of its current transformer business.

Working closely with the sales team, this role focuses on developing new sales opportunities, consistently following up on existing opportunities, and supporting timely communication with customers and sales representatives.

The ideal candidate is proactive, persistent, technically capable, and comfortable managing multiple sales activities at the same time. This is an active sales-support role: the individual is expected to help expand market reach and ensure that customer requests and sales opportunities receive consistent follow-up.

Responsibilities

~2 min read

New Customer and Market Development. Conduct online research to identify utilities, distributors, OEMs, and other prospective customers, especially in states where the company does not have sales coverage. Source appropriate contacts and use cold calling and email outreach to introduce the company, identify current transformer requirements, and generate new quoting opportunities.

Lead Qualification and Conversion. Develop new leads into customer service accounts so customer needs can be supported effectively and additional opportunities and quotations can be created. Adapt communication and follow-up based on customer feedback and needs.

Quote and Opportunity Follow Up. Track quotations and open sales opportunities, and follow up consistently until each opportunity results in a purchase order, is lost to a competitor, is postponed, or is otherwise resolved. Determine each opportunity's status, identify information needed, and help ensure opportunities continue toward a decision rather than being lost through lack of follow-up.

Existing Customer Follow Up. Maintain regular communication with existing customers to identify upcoming projects, product requirements, RFQs, and additional sales opportunities.

Customer Service Email Coordination. Coordinate activity in the Customer Service email account during normal business hours. Identify RFQs, order inquiries, delivery-status requests, and other customer needs; promptly route them to the appropriate team member; and follow up internally when necessary to help ensure timely customer responses.

Sales Representative Support. Maintain regular communication with sales representatives. Send weekly emails to encourage continued opportunity development, provide current inventory availability and other relevant sales information, and help ensure representatives have accurate information to support their customers.

Internal Sales Coordination. Serve as a coordination point among customers, sales representatives, sales management, and internal departments. The role is expected to ensure that requests reach the appropriate person and are followed through to completion.

Sales Activity Tracking. Maintain clean, organized tracking spreadsheets for all new leads, including contact details, outreach activity, status updates, quotations, follow-up dates, opportunities, and next actions. Provide regular updates to the sales team on progress, outstanding items, and newly identified opportunities.

Inventory Monitoring and Task Support. Monitor inventory status levels consistently and provide accurate, up-to-date inventory reports to the broader sales team. Complete assigned sales, order, and customer-service tasks as directed by sales leadership.
